A look back at the Ottawa Simulation
Wednesday, 24 October 2007
The University of Ottawa Stock Simulation took place last Saturday, October 20. The McGill Investment Club was glad to organize and send a delegation of McGill traders to take part in the event, which proved to be not only a great learning opportunity, but also a fun-filled experience for all the participants. François, one of the students (and MIC club member) who attended the Ottawa simulation, shares his experience:

This was my first stock simulation and I thought it was really exciting. It took me a bit of time to realize I shouldn't be thinking too much of the financial implications of the stocks but that I should be reacting quickly to news and to go for big growth stretches. That being said, I started out a bit overly diversified and should have concentrated my efforts a bit more. It's pretty hard to manage all those stocks at the same time while reacting to news on the trading floor. Next time I will know what to expect. Everyone was great and the accommodations were well located. Although they booked us for the wrong night at the hotel, everything else went smoothly. I can't wait to attend the next stock simulation!
