Guest Speaker: Michael Zukor, BMO Nesbitt Burns

We are delighted to announce that we will be having our first guest speaker Michael Zukor come and speak to us on Wednesday, November 19th at 6:00pm, Room 011 in Bronfman.

Michael joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2005. He is an Investment Advisor with a CA designation and specializes in working with individuals, retirees, small business owners and non-for-profit organizations who are concerned with developing the right plan to match their needs.

Educational Background
Michael attended the Sy Syms School of Business at Yeshiva University in New York and graduated with a BSC in Finance, Magna Cum Laude. After moving to Montreal, he took part in the graduate diploma in Accountancy at McGill University in order to qualify for the CA program at Concordia University. He has successfully completed the Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy at Concordia University. In 2006, he obtained his CA Designation.

Professional Background
While studying for his finance degree in New York, Michael spent time working as a Financial Analyst at a Boutique hedge fund, and spent time working with an Investment Advisor at a large American Firm. In Montreal, he spent 3 years working at one of the largest independent accounting, business advisory and consulting firms in Canada as an accountant. We hope you can join us for this exciting event to learn more about Mr. Zukor’s position at BMO, his career path and benefit from all of the advice he has to share with all of you!

Brett Hickey, Co-Founder and Managing Partner - Aegis Capital Group

Biography:
Mr. Hickey is the President, Co-Founder & Managing Partner of Aegis Capital Group LLC. Aegis currently manages 5 private equity and venture capital funds (including one fund of funds) focused on economic development investments across small and medium-sized businesses in North America. He is also a Founder and Director of de novo bank in the Northeastern USA as well as a Partner with MyProducer.tv, a virtual studio and web-based film and entertainment company.

Prior to co-founding Aegis Capital Group in 2003, Mr. Hickey was an investment banking analyst with the Insurance and Asset Management division of Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. in New York where he worked on significant capital raising transactions, corporate development projects and mergers and acquisitions, including, the $16.1 billion merger of The St. Paul Companies, Inc. and Travelers Property Casualty Corp.

Philanthropically, Mr. Hickey is the President of Acorn Charities Group, Vice President of Memberships of the McGill Alumni Association of New York (also the former President and Founder of the Young Alumni Association of New York), a Director for the Canadian Association of New York, and the Vice President of Finance for Young Canadians in Finance. Mr. Hickey is also a member of the Entrepreneurs' Organization.

Mr. Hickey graduated with distinction receiving a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a major in Finance and Concentration in Accounting.

Earlier today, we received a message from Roy Kabla of Lehman Brothers, informing us of a flight delay from New York to Montreal due to adverse weather conditions. The delay unfortunately forced the MIC to cancel the guest speaker event, which was planned to begin at 6pm in Bronfman.

Both Roy Kabla and the MIC committee would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. The circumstances were last-minute and unfortunately beyond our control.

We will, however, re-schedule this event with Mr. Kabla for a later date, and we will keep you informed about this. Special apologies for those of you who made the trek out to Bronfman for this event.

Considering a career in investment banking? Mr. Kabla, from Lehman Brothers in New York, will be holding an informal talk exploring what investment is really about, insights about the recruitment process, and the different career paths that are available to students who pursue this profession.

Roy Kabla, Senior Vice President - Media Investment Banking U.S.

Roy Kabla is a Senior Vice President in the Global Media Group at Lehman Brothers in New York where he has advised on a wide variety of transactions. He has executed approximately $100 billion of M&A and financing assignments in the U.S., Canada and Europe since 1999.

Mr. Kabla has represented clients across the media and communication sectors, including cable, publishing, theme-parks, diversified media, broadcasting, new media, Internet access, wireless and alternative networks. Selected clients have included: Cox Enterprises, Cox Communications, Primedia, Six Flags, Cablevision and Liberty Media in the United States; Wolters Kluwer, Carlton Communications, DeAPlaneta, Vivendi, Primacom, NTL and Sonera in Europe; and TELUS, Sun Media, GlobeNet and 360networks in Canada.

Maggie Borowiec and Heather Borrelli, Investment Advisors

Maggie Borowiec graduated from McGill University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Major in Finance) and was recruited by BCA Research’s emerging markets group as a research assistant. She was an analyst when she moved to the company’s foreign exchange strategy group and soon became one of the youngest editors in BCA’s history.

In April 2002, she left BCA to pursue an extended travel dream. After exploring three continents in six months, she embarked on a new career and joined Berkshire Securities Inc. to become an investment advisor. She advises individual and corporate clients in Quebec and Ontario.

Heather Borrelli graduated from McGill University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a double major in Economics and Political Science. After graduation, Heather joined an investment firm where she started her training in the Canadian financial services industry. The following year, she was recruited by Berkshire Investment Group as a mutual fund representative and simultaneously joined Berkshire Insurance Services Inc. as a financial security advisor. In 2003, Heather joined Berkshire Securities Inc and became a fully licensed investment advisor.

Heather is a Rotarian and is currently President of the Westmount Rotary Club. She is married and has a two year old daughter.

Sarvesh K. Srivastava: Prior to joining Wolfensohn & Company, Mr. Srivastava was with the Corporate Finance Practice at McKinsey & Company in Singapore, where he served clients in the basic industrials, financial services, and telecommunications sectors. Previously, Mr. Srivastava was with the Global Healthcare Group at UBS Investment Bank in New York, where he focused on M&A and financing transactions for clients across various healthcare sub-sectors and geographies.

Mr. Srivastava has a B.Sc. from McGill University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Srivastava graduated from McGill University in 1999 with a major in Microbiology & Immunology and a minor in Management. He was also elected Vice President of the Science Undergraduate Society (SUS) and then Vice President of the Students’ Society of McGill University (SSMU).
